Surprise Party Invitations

There is no doubt that planning and orchestrating a surprise party can be - excuse the pun - surprisingly difficult, particularly if you live with the person you're planning to spring the party on. The vast majority of planning a surprise party can be done covertly, provided you remember to use contact details for yourself that the person in question has no access to. Make all calls from your cell phone (if the honoree doesn't see your call log) or your office, and use an email address for correspondence that the guest of honor cannot access. Also, ensure that everyone involved in the surprise party - such as guests, entertainment and cake makers - are aware the party is a surprise. If it's not okay for anyone to call your home phone, don't give them the number. Give everyone involved in the surprise "secret" phone and email addresses. If necessary, develop a code word which will alert those "in on it" as to whether it is okay to discuss the party at a given time - and only use the code word when the surprise is not in earshot.

Surprise parties are so much fun, but how do you keep it a surprise? We suggest you make sure the word SURPRISE stands out on your surprise party invitations so all your guests know immediately that it's a surprise party. Be sure to tell guests what time the guest of honor will arrive and suggest they park down the street out of sight, especially if the guest of honor is good at recognizing people's cars.

TIP 2: Another fabulous tip is to use a return address other than your home address on your surprise party invitations envelope. If someone has moved and the invitation is returned to you, your surprise could be ruined if the guest of honor spots the envelope and get curious enough to open it.

TIP 3: Make sure your surprise party invitations are delivered to a location that won't ruin the surprise! Send them to your office, your neighbor, your mother, just don't expect get home first and intercept the delivery, that's just too stressful and not guaranteed to work.
