Almond Roca is one of my absolute favorites and unless it’s Christmas, the closest I can come to is grabbing a Heath bar at the grocery store checkout to curb my cravings. That is until I tried this yummy, easy recipe:

Peel A Head of Garlic in 10 Seconds!
March 18th, 2013OMG! Who’s been keeping this secret! I love garlic and peeling it is the least fun part of cooking, not to mention the time it takes to do it. Peeling an entire head of garlic in less than 10 seconds is a secret no longer. Pass this along, pin it, post it and tweet it to all your friends!
Hemingway Daiquiri Recipe
February 24th, 2013I’m going old school for the Oscars tonight and making Hemingway Daiquiris. I thought of these because the grapefruit are ready on my tree and I’m tired of wine for every occasion. This refreshing cocktail reportedly got its name because it was Ernest Hemingway’s drink of choice at La Floridita, a famous Havana bar.
It’s been years since I’ve had a classic daiquiri (lime juice, sugar, and white rum), and a Hemingway adds grapefruit juice and maraschino liquor instead of sugar. This great little cocktail will give you a little pick up.
- 6 ounces freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 3 ounces white rum
- 1 ounce maraschino liquor (I have left this out and added Stevia or sugar to sweeten and it’s still fabulous)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake until combined, strain into your favorite cocktail glass. Garnish with either grapefruit or lime slice.
The Oaks Lily – Official Drink of the Kentucky Oaks
February 21st, 2013The Oaks Lily® is the official drink of the Kentucky Oaks, run at Churchill Downs the day before the famous Kentucky Derby.
There is one thing you need to know about the Kentucky Oaks, PINK is its signature color.
The winner of the Kentucky Oaks, America’s premier race for 3-year-old fillies, is draped with a garland of hot pink and white stargazer lilies, so what better color than a pink cocktail to celebrate this day of fillies and lilies.
To make the Oaks Lily®:
- 1 oz. Grey Goose® Vodka
- 1 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix
- 3 oz. Cranberry Juice
- Splash of Triple Sec
Serve with crushed ice and garnish with a cherry and orange wedge.
Don’t forget to invite guests to enjoy the Kentucky Oaks with fabulous invitations.

How to Make Green Beer for St. Patrick’s Day
February 21st, 2013Green beer on St. Patrick’s Day! All the pubs will be serving it, but if you decide to have your own party, how do you make your beer green for St. Patrick’s Day?
- To turn beer green, you can use either blue or green food coloring
- For a shamrock green beer color, use blue dye, especially if you are serving light or yellow beers
- For a bright lime green beer color, use green food dye
- If you’re not sure what color to use, food coloring is inexpensive, so you can buy both colors and experiment to get the color you want for the party
- No stirring will be required if you add 2-3 drops of dye to the bottom of your mug before you pour the beer
- For kegs, it’s almost impossible to dye the beer in the keg, so you should put the dye in each cup as you pour each beer (designate one person to control the dye so it doesn’t end up where you don’t want it)
- Be careful with the dye as it can color more than your beer if you’re not careful
13 million pints of Guinness are served on St. Patrick’s Day, more than double a normal day. What beer will you be serving?

Mardi Gras Cajun Shrimp Casserole
January 27th, 2013If you are searching for recipes for Mardi Gras or if you just love shrimp, you’ll love this incredible seafood casserole that is spicy, cheesy and filled with shrimp. I don’t care for okra, so I only used about a cup in mine, just enough to be able to ignore it was there. If you like cheese, put extra on the table for guests to add more if they wish.
Pink Packaged Moët & Chandon Rose Champagne

If you can’t find the boxed set, you could always buy a bottle of the Moët & Chandon Rose Imperial champagne and a gold marker to create your own version of this special addition box.
What an amazing gift to give and to receive!
Valentine’s Day Romeo and Juliet Cocktail
January 15th, 2013Looking for a tasty cocktail to serve on Valentine’s Day for a party or a romantic dinner for two? Try the Romeo and Juliet Cocktail. It starts with my favorite, Patron Silver tequila, and the mix of Grand Marnier, Chambord and peach juice is fabulous.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Patron Silver tequila
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1/4 oz. cherry or Chambord raspberry liquor
2 oz. chilled peach juice
3 maraschino cherries, garnish
Orange spiral, garnish
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice; add tequila (you can substitute Absolut Apeach), Grand Marnier, cherry liquor and peach juice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and pour into a chilled fluted glass or large martini glass.
Place orange spiral on the lip of the glass so it drapes down the side. If you’re using a fluted glass, drop a cherry into the drink. For a martini glass, you can skewer three cherries on a swizzle stick and lay it across the lip.
