Pool Party Invitations and Fun Water Games to Entertain

July 5th, 2011

Kids in the Pool Party InvitationsA summer pool party is a blast for a birthday party or any special occasion.  Keeping kids entertained is easier when you can guide them in some fun pool games.

Octopus
Choose a person to be “it”. They stand in the middle of the pool. Players line up on one side of the pool and try and swim to the other side without being tagged. The players who are tagged hold hands with “it” and for the next round all the players holding hands try and tag the swimmers as they try and make it to the other end of the pool. Keep going until all players have been tagged – then choose another “it” and start again. Lots of fun!

Noodle Joust
Select two players to sit on a blow up raft in the middle of the pool. Give each one a pool noodle and have them joust with the noodles and try and get each other off the raft. The winner takes on the next player.

Bacon Bundled BBQ Shrimp Recipe

June 20th, 2011

This is a fantastic party recipe! The shrimp, bacon, and BBQ sauce combo makes it nearly impossible for anyone to believe that these are guilt-free in any way. Yet each one has less than 30 calories!

  • 16 large (not jumbo) raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, tails removed
  • 8 slices extra-lean turkey bacon, halved widthwise
  • 1/3 cup canned tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (not packed)
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a small bowl, combine tomato sauce, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, and garlic powder until mixed well. Set aside. Lightly spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray. Take ½ slice bacon and coat it in the sauce. Wrap the sauce-covered bacon around a shrimp and place it, seam side down, on the baking sheet. Repeat with the rest of the bacon and shrimp. Give them a quick mist with nonstick spray. Bake in the oven until shrimp are cooked through and bacon is crispy, 10 to 15 minutes.

Feng Shui Wedding Gift Ideas

June 20th, 2011

If you’re tired of giving the same old wedding and bridal shower gifts, why not consider these wedding gift ideas inspired by Feng Shui?

  1. Anything in pairs — Giving two of something, from lamps to vases filled with flowers or candles in beautiful candle holders, helps create a sense of balance. The newlyweds can place the items on their respective nightstands for good Feng Shui, or place both items in the romance corner of their home or the master bedroom.
  2. Anything in red – Red, pink, rose and similar colors promote passion in a relationship, so anything red makes a good bridal shower gift, from red lingerie to red pillows.
  3. Anything made of ceramic or porcelain – Earth is the element associated with the romance trigram of the ba gua, so items representing this element will bring good luck to the couple. A pair of red ceramic objects — hearts, cranes or a symbol with significance to the bride and groom — would be the perfect Feng Shui wedding or bridal shower gift.

No Mess Cupcake Wrapper Assembly

May 10th, 2011

One of the questions we’re commonly asked, “How do you not mess up the frosting on your cupcakes when you put them in the cupcake wrappers?”  Most companies tell you to frost after you’ve put the cupcakes in the wrappers, which is a great idea we recommend too, but what if you bought frosted cupcakes at the bakery?

Here’s a very simple way to keep your fingers out of the frosting when adding cupcake wrappers to your beautiful creations. Be sure to check out the beautiful cupcake wrappers for sale at Announcingit.com
